There always is the possibility that a random question will be asked- a question that follows no patterns and has been picked up from a random source. I think the people who set the papers use these questions to select the best of the best- the top rankers.

Now if you wanted just a 300+ in biology, I'd have advised you to read nothing more than NCERT. But for the extra 40 marks, or lets say 8 questions, you need to work hard. Yes, you need to cover the modules.
